CASTOR SEED MEAL & CASTOR OIL

CASTOR SEED MEAL & CASTOR OIL

CASTOR SEED MEAL

Castor seed meal is obtained from the castor cake using the solvent extraction process. Castor seed meal acts as a natural manure. In other words, castor meal is the sediment remaining after the oil has been extracted from the castor seed (commonly referred to as castor beans) and is predominantly used as an organic fertilizer. Moreover, it helps in neutralizing the detrimental effects of chemical fertilizers. Apart from its contribution to nutrients, castor seed meal has several benefits in agriculture. These advantages cannot be found in other synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.

BENEFITS

  • The castor seed meal is a 2-in-1 soil additive, which is used as both fertilizer and natural pest repellent.
  • It is a soil amendment that can be used to soften hard soils.
  • It is used in the diet fed to poultry, fish, and farm animals.
  • It improves the physical properties of soil and promotes the activity of microorganisms.
  • The castor seed meal is used as a fuel in boilers as it has a higher calorific value than other fuels like ignite and coal.
  • The naturally developed molecules from castor seed meal help in plant growth.

APPLICATIONS

  • Enhances the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soil.
  • Used for better plant growth as it contains major & minor nutrients.
  • Increases the nutrient uptake by plants.
  • Used to protect plants from nematodes and termites.
  • Improves the yield and quality of farm produce.

CASTOR OIL

Castor oil is a thick and odorless vegetable oil that has been used by people for thousands of years. It is a pale yellow liquid extracted from castor seeds and is very rich in antioxidants. The seeds, known as castor beans, contain a toxic enzyme called ricin. However, the heating process that castor oil undergoes during production deactivates the ricin, allowing the oil to be used safely. Castor oil is naturally used as an additive in foods, medications, and skincare products. It’s also utilized as an industrial lubricant and biodiesel fuel component.

BENEFITS

  • The essential fatty acids in castor oil help in restoring your skin’s natural moisture balance.
  • Castor oil can moisturize and condition your hair naturally and also helps increase blood circulation, which improves hair growth.
  • It prevents hair fall and also makes the roots stronger.
  • It helps penetrate the skin and boosts the production of collagen, which softens and hydrates the skin.
  • Castor oil is used as a medicine for those suffering from a skin ailment called Atopic Dermatitis (dry skin disease).

APPLICATIONS

  • Used as a natural laxative. This is one of its best-known medical uses.
  • Used in cosmetics to promote hydration.
  • Reduces odors, protects wounds, and creates a moist environment to promote healing.
  • Used in fuel, biodiesel, polymer materials, coating, paints, etc.
